“You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.”
Albert Camus, French Novelist

We went to Toronto last week and saw an artist we discovered one day while looking for new music. Sometimes a playlist needs a good dump, and sometimes it just needs a new beginning. And three short years ago, we wanted a new beginning when we moved to Ottawa.

It’s hard for us to be in crowds and loud places, so a concert was outside our norm for things to do. But we also want to give ourselves those things in life that are special, like shared music from a cool artist. Neither of us wants to see a big production; we want the artist, and Tove Lo, a Swedish star, is an amazing singer and songwriter. Her music gives us emotions.

No therapy room. No big revelation. No attempt to fix ourselves. Just a trip together to see a concert and enjoy the experience.

We walked twenty kilometers that day, up and down Queen Street West.

I also found a good book.

And perhaps that’s part of what I’ve been looking for all along. To find myself healing by just living, doing things with someone I love. Getting outside more than just my head.
