World Suicide Awareness Day is a reminder that Suicide can happen in any family!
This is the face of suicide!
Rehtaeh Parsons is her name!
I look at this photo and I can hear her snort laughing as if she was standing beside me.
I would never in a million years have thought I would lose my child to suicide..
Rehtaeh was a fighter
She fought to come into this world and she fought to stay!
She changed my life the day she was born and inspired me to push myself in every way possible.
Becoming her Mom was such a blessing in my life. I’m so grateful she picked me!
Suicide does not have a “type:”
Rehtaeh had so much to live for yet she could not stay. She wanted to. I know that because she often shared that she would never act on her dark thoughts.
Since she died I not only share her experience I share my own struggles. I no longer stuff emotions. I walk directly into how I feel each and every day and meet my emotions.
We must keep talking !
We must keep the conversation about mental health as a top priority
We all struggle
She inspires me everyday!
