Be Dre Greenlaw

This is a great story about bystander intervention and how it’s done.

Gerry Daly of Arkansas posted to Twitter the story of his freshman daughter being drugged by someone at a college party. When an unknown man tried to “steer” her away, he was stopped at the door by footballer Dre Greenlaw who knew something was off.

Daly says, “My daughter went to a college party when she was freshman. She knew very few people at the party, and also didn’t have a ton of experience drinking. Someone slipped something into her drink when she wasn’t paying attention.”

“Dre was also a freshman. And he knew my daughter from high school. And he did *not* know the guy who was all over her.”

“And when that guy tried to steer my daughter out the front door, he stopped the guy and said ‘she’s not going anywhere.'”

There’s no telling what that simple intervention prevented but it’s likely the nightmare she didn’t have to wake up too was stopped cold.

Stand up when you see something wrong. Never let it go or think someone else will help. Be that someone!

Be Dre Greenlaw!
