“There’s one thing I loved in this world more than her. Do you know what that was? Hating myself. I love it. I’m addicted to it. And I loved her so very, very much.”

Richard Gadd, Comedian

If you’ve never seen someone speak their truth, this is your chance.

We binge-watched the Netflix series Baby Reindeer and to suggest it resonated would be an understatement. I could have screamed some of those words, the self-loathing, the hating yourself, the desire to find peace amongst the tears. Comedian Richard Gadd is a Scottish writer, actor and comedian. He created and starred in the 2024 Netflix drama series Baby Reindeer, based on his one-man show.

Gadd fell victim to a serial stalker and shares his experience with sexual violence in the series. It’s hard to watch, but it’s important. Rarely does a show resonate with honesty like this.

“In exposing myself and going to that level of brutal honesty, I do feel like the show has brought an extraordinary amount of comfort to people around the globe.”

Gadd is an ambassador for We Are Survivors, a UK charity dedicated to helping male survivors of sexual abuse.

“Art Should Comfort the Disturbed and Disturb the Comfortable.”

“Every day I get emails and messages from people talking about how the show has impacted them and encouraged them to face certain things in their own life. That to me is more important than anything else and will hopefully be the lasting legacy of the show.”
