Iturn 61 today and I’m sitting in a coffee shop with my amazing wife and pondering pretty much everything life has thrown my way.

Today I have the greatest treasure of all, I have peace. And there are many things in my life I can be peaceful about; my health is good, we’re financially safe, I have a partner in everything, family is close, and I get to spend time with my wonderful two year old great-niece.

There is also a future I look forward to; a summer at my brother’s cottage, fishing, going to Rome, being present for the sunsets and the birds singing in the morning.

I no longer have the energy to give into what only takes. The calls from the past have slowed, and I’ve found peace in the silence.

I am so grateful I lived this long.
