We spent a total of 9 weeks in San Felipe, Mexico, and drove back across the border New Years Day. The drive to Calexico, California, takes about 2 1/2 hours and it’s a pretty uneventful trip. I made a mistake at the border and ended up in the Sentri lane but the border guards were kind and helped us out. It could have cost us between $5,000 and $10,000.

After a quick search of our car, we got a warning not to get in that lane again and headed to El Centro for a few days to get our bearings and have the car looked at. I had the brakes done and new tires installed so we’re ready for the weather once we head north into the snow and cold. I went to a company here called Quicklane and they changed the oil and rotated the tires before we went into Mexico. That experience was great so I used them again.

After our stay in El Centro we headed out and stayed at Picacho Peak State Park for a night followed by a KOA near Lordsburg, New Mexico. Last night we stayed at a motel near Clint, Texas. Four States in four days! Texas will be a big one though, it’s Ontario big.

It amazes me how quickly time can get away from you. I’ll try to write more in 2023 and we have a lot of great experiences to share, about our trip and our lives together. Sometimes we don’t have the good connection I need for posting.

See you here again soon!
