“I paint flowers so they will not die.”

Frida Kahlo
Mexican Artist / Feminist Icon / Painter
We spent two days in Calexico, California, before heading south to our final road trip destination, San Felipe, Mexico. Trying to navigate to numerous online instructions to cross the border was frustrating as many of them are outdated or just wrong; even Google Maps is horribly outdated with labels on abandoned buildings and unnecessary routes.
The odometer in our car reads just over 10,000 kms but doesn’t show how weary we’ve become after 116 days of travel. Our destination when we began our road trip was San Felipe, Mexico, and I’m writing this after a full day of rest at our rental home for the next three months, right on the Sea of Cortez.
We made it and it’s beautiful here. Along the way we met numerous people I can’t wait to write about, saw some of the most amazing sunsets and sunrises, and learned so much about ourselves and each other. It has to be one of the most rewarding experiences there can be, traveling with someone you’re in love with.
For now we’ll rest, enjoy our day, and let go of the worry we’ve carried. We both wish you a great day!
