“I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m on my way.” ~ Carl Sandburg

I don’t know where to start. I prepared as much as I could for the details of an extended road trip but wasn’t prepared for the feelings and this feels fantastic.

We’re actually doing this! We left our life behind and here we are on a journey to start a new one.

If I could ask for the perfect way to start the trip this would have been it, deep in Algonquin Park, cut off from the world, just the two of us and our little pug. We booked four days in the park and it rained for one of them and we kind of liked it. No better time to test our gear than the soonest time.

Our iKamper Mini stood up really well, no leaks in the rain and lots of cozy comfort at night. Loved the skylight view of the stars.
We dumped a few things when we stayed at my brother’s cottage and today more is gone. We’re trying to keep only what we need, not just for the precious space, but so our day’s aren’t cluttered up with crap in the way. This is as simple as my life has been since I left home in 1981.

My laptop, camera, the car and tent, a few clothes and some camp supplies, plus the most adventurous woman I have ever met. I’m so proud to be Krista’s husband.

Today we tried to describe how we feel and all the good words fit; joyous, happy, content, free.

See you soon friends, tomorrow is the start of another four days camping but with cell service so I’ll post again soon.

Thanks for following.
