The news out of Halifax is just heartbreaking. A Syrian family came to Canada in 2017, searching for peace and safety, but unimaginable tradegy followed them.
Seven children, all members of the Barho family, died in a house fire early Tuesday morning. They range in age from 3 months to 14 years.
The group that sponsored the family to come to Canada identified the victims as:
- Abdullah, three months old
- Rana, 2
- Ola, 8
- Mohamad, 9
- Rola, 12
- Ahmed, 14
Their mom, Kawthar, escaped the fire and their dad, Ebraheim, is in the hospital with life threatening injuries.
A GoFundMe campaign has been organized by family friends, including the Imam Council of Halifax and the Hants East Assisting Refugees Team (HEART), the organization sponsored the family to come to Canada.
